Jessy Pearson-Cheney started practicing yoga during her freshman year of college as a tool to manage increasing stress levels. The instant peace of mind and sense of well-being motivated Jessy to continue exploring the many practices of yoga. In 2013 Jessy decided it was time to take her practice a step further and earned her Level 1 and Prenatal/Postpartum Teacher certifications through YogaFit. In 2019 Jessy became a 200-hour certified teacher through Bhogah Yoga School studying under Brianne Barrett (E-RYT500). Jessy is the only Y12SR (The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery) certified teacher in Grant County and is passionate about using yoga as a tool to promote well-being in her community.
Jessy has been teaching weekly group classes since 2013 in the Grant County area. Current offerings include: Chair yoga, Y12SR weekly meetings, and group classes focused on stress reduction. Inclusion and safety are two primary elements of each class that Jessy teaches and she believes that yoga is a spiritual practice that allows each person to connect to their higher power to find balance and healing. Jessy hopes that each person who joins her class will leave their practice feeling connected and whole. Personal practice is pivotal as a teacher and she is currently focusing on restorative asana and meditation.
When she’s not teaching, Jessy enjoys traveling with her husband, Travis, reading, and walking her Silky Terrier, Rose.
